Kentucky Horse Park

Girls playing outside of the Kids Barn.
A pretty cool course for kids to act like horses!

They measure the hight of a horse by hands.
Samantha is 11 hands tall and Laney is 13 hands tall.

Our Mini Vacation continues at the Kentucky Horse Park. In the morning we went to the Hall of Champions. It was pretty neat. They showed a video of each horse and why they are famous and then the brought each one out one by one so we (Samantha) could take pictures.

One horse that lives at the Kentucky Horse Park was 1 million dollars short of earning 10 million dollars.

We were a little chilly in the morning, but by the afternoon the sun came out and it turned out to be a beautiful warm day.

The girls were cracking my up as they each took turns on the mechanical horse. I am so glad I had a bag of quarters in my purse from when I went to sweep out the car.
Bradley watching his crazy sisters.

Next was the Parade of Horses. They shared with us horses from around the world. This was really enjoyable mainly, because the sun was starting to peek through the clouds and I wasn't anymore concerned about Bradley being warm enough.

Enjoying the tram ride around the park.

Berea Kentucky

Berea, Kentucky - Where Art's Alive

Berea is an artisan community. It is the home of potters, weavers, instrument makers, furniture artisans, jewelry designers, glass workers, painters, sculptors, and musicians.

Every single little art shop had a dog. The girls were in doggy heaven. I heard Laney laughing and quickly turned around to catch this photo of Samantha getting some puppy love.

Loved all of the hands throughout the town.

I am a RINGHAND!

Loved this little garden entrance to one of the shops.

Great way to water your garden with rain water run off.

I thought this was a cool idea, but I forgot to see how they got the bead on there. I am assuming they had to cut the key and put the key back together once the bead was on. They were charging a pretty penny for these. Seems easy enough.
Samantha didn't understand why we couldn't buy this mask at one of the art galleries. I kept telling her it was thousands of dollars. I don't think she gets what $2,000 actually means.

She said it was her favorite thing. The girl has expensive taste what can I tell ya. I told her we could try to make our own with beads and glue.
I liked this idea of simply painting on some flat rocks to add some personality to your garden.

mini vacation for spring break

Wildwood Inn
Florence, Kentucky

We started our little mini vacation off at the Wildwood Inn. We chose the Utah Canyon room. It was a lot of fun, but every time one of us woke up we would have trouble going back to sleep because the room was so distracting.

Birds eye view - My mother let the girls climb up one of the walls while I was in the shower, just so she could get a birds eye view photo. Turned out pretty good.

This Spring the girls have been enjoying swim classes on Wednesday evenings after school. It is awesome that they get to swim with their cousins, Thomas, Jack and Sarah.

After Swim class, Stacy and I usually take all of the kids out for dinner. They are now to the age were they are typically pretty well behaved.

Laney, Samantha, Bradley and me went to church with Lance's parents. Lance was out of town on a fishing trip.

There is a nice young man named Bob at their church that has a cute little punch bug. The girls saw it in the parking lot, so Bob offered to give them a ride around the block.

The girls said it was the best day ever.

I could totally see Samantha in a yellow punch bug as a 16 year old girl.

cute girls

I think it is so stinkin' cute that every night my girls hold each others hand so they can go to sleep.
They love each other!!!

Samantha is my little creative girl. She does some pretty impressive things with paper, glue and a stapler.

Family Home Evening (February 26)

We had the best Family Home Evening Lesson on Monday. Lance and I talked to the girls about self asteem. We told them that they need to always remember that they are daughters of Heavenly Father and that he loves them and made them each special. At the end of our lesson each of us wrote our names down the side of a piece of paper and wrote positive things about our selfs with each letter of our names.
Here is what we came up with.
